{piece of my heart}

A charity that raises money for children's congenital heart defects had asked for a photograph of a child's fingers making the shape of a heart for their upcoming website. Pressed for time, I took out my camera and asked him to please make a heart with his fingers. He looked down at his hands and then back up at me and said, "How?" I showed him a few times but he couldn't hold still and giggled his way through my frustration. When he observed my disappointment that the shape wasn't clear, he finally said, "I want to do it, but how?" He ran away to hide in his room when the phone rang and I shared with a friend what I was trying to accomplish and she - being a teacher - told me that he was still too young to master such dexterity. Of course. I resumed photographer duties, but this time with more patience and kindness. I now see that what he accomplished that morning was beyond good enough. Afterall, he is my enthusiastic and creative 3 year-old son, my light, my love and the best heart-shaper that I know.

Love At First Sight

Our eyes met across the room in Dr. Cheskis' Spanish class. It was love at first sight.

My husband said I chased him until I caught him. I married a romantic.

Fran adds to the love

Rebecca's post brings back memories of the food we used to eat as kids. Unfortunately, they weren't as healthy. When we had a cake or pie I remember my Dad saying he was going to cut it "Abramo" style. That meant four pieces for the four of us! I wandered my neighborhood around Valentine's day and created this composite photo. My favorite activity to this day is stopping in a local coffee shop for a coffee and whatever sweet looks the best!

Rebecca finds the love

These images may not seem to have anything to do with Love, our word of the month, and yet, in my mind, they do. My mother didn't have a lot of resources available to her in the depths of winter in Ohio, and yet we always had plenty of fruits and vegetables. She taught me how to eat well and live well. For that I love her. And to this day I love my fruits and vegetables.
